REACH Mentoring Scholarship

We are pleased to announce that in 2017, REACH’s 1st scholarship was created. It’s provided to area youth who have been involved in the REACH Mentoring Program for 6 months or more. This can include mentors, mentees, or members of the SOS (Students Offering Support) Group.

This scholarship is available to all area high school seniors in Carlton County. One area student will be chosen each year to receive this scholarship.

As a result of fundraisers held by the REACH Mentoring Program during the year, one student will receive a $500 scholarship award to be used for studies at an accredited college, university, or trade school during the upcoming academic year.

It is REACH’s Mission to provide supportive and meaningful mentoring relationships to the youth of Carlton County. We envision a community where every youth experiences a variety of positive and encouraging relationships, that provide a sense of belonging, and allows each youth, the ability to achieve their full potential, both individually, and as members of the community. The REACH Mentoring Program challenges youth to step outside of their comfort zone, to trust, and to share fears and successes with their mentors.

Applicants will be rated on but not limited to their level of involvement in the REACH Program, volunteerism, community involvement, strong future education goals, and career interests.

We have the honor of presenting the 1st REACH Scholarship to a senior at Cloquet High School. The REACH Scholarship recipient for the year 2016 – 2017 is Joey Obeidzinski. The REACH Program staff along with the board of directors, wish Joey the best with his future endeavors.
